Henri Rousseau

Let’s learn about Henri Rousseau! Use his art work as inspiration for your own rainforest art.

Henri Rousseau

Let’s protect ALL life on land!

Global Goal 15 is Life on Land!

Henri Rousseau

Henri Rousseau was not a trained artist, but self taught.

He loved the rainforest, but got his inspiration for his paintings from visiting botanical gardens.

His art was called ‘Post-impressionism’, he didn't paint the rainforest as it looks in real life.

He painted a lot from his imagination.

Think about..

• What do you like and dislike about each painting?

• What colours can you see and how many?

• What can you see in the foreground, middleground and background?

• Can you imagine being in the rainforest?

• What animals would you paint?
