Upswing's Circus-Arts Approach to Environmental Learning

At Earth Cubs we love sharing amazing organisations who are helping to inspire the next generation of Global Citizens!

Award-winning contemporary circus company Upswing created the Seasons project to connect children to nature no matter where they live. Blending circus arts, creativity, and nature exploration, their brand new lesson resources for teachers and schools encourage little learners to explore environmental patterns and our relationship to the planet.

During residencies in central-London libraries, Upswing’s professional artists collaborated with schools, families, and children to contribute ideas and inspiration to the development of Seasons. After this three-year development period, Upswing created the Seasons Learner Resources to spark passion for our shared home by bringing together artistic expression, physical skills and scientific observation.

Upswing's creative educational model shows how playful experiences with nature can motivate children to become more environmentally engaged. The Seasons Learner Resources hit key curriculum basics, promote wellbeing and (perhaps most importantly), use joy and play to open young hearts and minds to care for the Earth.
